Rosenberg Gewurztraminer 2009
Alsace, in northeast France, is hailed by wine lovers for riesling and gewurztraminer, the region's top varietals. Both wines come in many styles, from sweet to bone dry. Cave de Ribeauville has been a celebrated producer of these varietals since 1895. Located halfway between Mulhouse and Strasbourg, the winery also makes muscat, pinot blanc, pinot gris, pinot noir, sylvaner and several sparklers. Its 2009 Vendanges Manuelles gewurztraminer is bright gold and marked by intense floral, tropical and mineral aromas. Flavors of spiced pears and a touch of mineral are round and very focused, with initial sweetness that goes nicely dry. The wine has good acidity. It's fresh and fun.
